Mobile Phone Sales May be Down In 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Look for the total sales of mobile phones to drop in 2012 according to Gartner.  Gartner is likeley to cut its ts 2012 outlook when it comes to global sales of mobile phones.  The reason according to Gartner is simple.  The economy is uncertain so people are not upgrading their mobile devices as they normally would world wide.

Gartners contention is that many of the consumer around the world will not be upgrading their devices like they normally would.  The world economy again is to blame as economic concerns continue to impact manufacturers, suppliers, and consumers and how they buy technology.  Users of mobile phones are still concerned about mobile phone cost and mobile phone spending.  As a result of this, Gartner believes it will be holding back from upgrading their mobile devices.

According to the report, Gartner says that worldwide sales of mobile phones declined 2.3 percent in the second quarter of 2012, reaching a total of 419 million units. Out of this value, smartphone sales accounted for 36.7 per cent of total sales.  Overall sales of mobile units may have decreased, but the increasing popularity of smartphones has resulted in a growth increase of 42.7 percent in Q2.

The final decision is Gartners on whether they decide to cut their outlook on global mobile sales for 2012, but the report does verify that the economy is still impacting mobile device users around the world, and that mobile device savings is still something that most companies and consumers are vitally aware of and interested in achieving for their corporate and personal devices.
